For the purposes of this document, “XS Rider Training School” will, from now on, be referred to as “XSRTS”. The candidate will be referred to as “The Trainee.”
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
- Deposit. XSRTS require a non-refundable deposit to secure the Trainee’s place on the CBT course (date mutually agreed).
- Change of date or cancellation. In the event that the Trainee is unable to attend the CBT course, XSRTS must have notification from the Trainee before 1700 Hours (5pm) two working days prior to the commencement of the allotted course. Failure to advise XSRTS before 1700 Hours (5pm) two working days prior to the allotted course, will result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
- Re-booking. If the Trainee has failed to give the required notice of cancellation or change (see note 2.) and wishes to re-book, a new deposit will be required.
LESSON
- Arrival. The Trainee must arrive at least fifteen (15) minutes before the commencement of the lesson. If the Trainee fails to arrive fifteen (15) minutes before the lesson start, and the instructor has had to leave (the instructor may have more than one trainee on the same lesson), then the Trainee will be liable for the cost of the lesson.
- Notice of change/cancellation.If the Trainee fails to contact XSRTS requesting a change of time/date or cancellation of a lesson, at least two working days prior to the commencement of the lesson, then the Trainee will be liable for the cost of the lesson.
MOTORCYCLE TEST
- Agreement. The test date and time will initially be agreed verbally by XSRTS and the Trainee.
- Fees.At the time of this agreement, it will be acknowledged that the Trainee agrees to pay both the test fee and any fees for motorcycle hire and lessons time hire associated with the test.
- Cancellation grace period.Cancellation of the test must be made a minimum of Fourteen (14) days prior to the agreed test date/time. Failure to give 14 days’ notice of cancellation will result in the Trainee being liable for payment of the test fee and payment for any lesson/bike hire arranged immediately prior the test. XSRTS reserve the right to waive this charge if the test can be re–allocated to a different candidate.
- Documentation/Clothing.Failure to produce all the necessary documents at the test centre, or wear suitable motorcycle clothing, WILL result in the forfeiture of the Trainee’s test and fee. If the Trainee is unsure of what documents to bring and what clothing needs to be worn, the Trainee should contact the DVSA.
- Test Forfeiture. In the event of the test being forfeited, through inadequate documentation and/or clothing, or the Trainee not arriving at the test centre at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the commencement of the allotted test time, the Trainee will still be required to pay for the test, motorcycle hire and any lesson time booked.
- Test Cancellation.
- If the test is cancelled by the DVSAfor any reason, then the Trainee will be entitled to a free replacement test.
- If the test is cancelled by the DVSA, for any reason, prior to setting off from the XSRTS registered office, then the Trainee will not be charged for any motorcycle hire, or lesson time booked.
- If the test is cancelled by the DVSA, for any reason, and the Instructor and Trainee are already in transit to, or at, the test centre, then the Trainee will still be required to pay for the motorcycle hire and any lesson time booked.
- In the event of the test being cancelled by the DVSA, for any reasonother than weather, (e.g. DVSA Equipment failure, or availability of a DVSA examiner) and the Instructor and Trainee are already in transit to, or at, the test centre, then the Trainee will still be required to pay for the motorcycle hire and any lesson time booked, BUT the Trainee can apply for compensation for any expenses from the DVSA. In this case, XSRTS will provide a receipt for any Trainee expenses relating to XSRTS (Motorcycle hire, lesson time), but XSRTS are unable to claim compensation on behalf of the Trainee.

In this event, the Trainee is still liable for payment for the test fee, motorcycle hire and any lesson time booked, even if the Trainee does not arrive at the test centre in time to take the test, and the test is forfeited.
